Michael is currently a full time glass artist. He works with his wife, Misato, in a studio designed and built on three acres of rainforest on the Island of Hawaii. His work can be found in art galleries throughout the United States. In addition to private collections worldwide, their work has been included in the Collections of the Hawaii State Foundation of Culture & Arts and in the Contemporary Museum of Honolulu.

Artist Statement

“There is something both dramatic and dynamic about the manipulation of a molten mass of glass, such that the process has almost as much appeal to me as does the creation. Hot glass is a medium in constant motion, where balance, timing and rhythm are the essential tools in the process. Once you start, you cannot stop until it is finished and, after almost twenty years in glass, I’ve conceded that the glass is really in control, as much as I would like to believe otherwise.”

fireborne…Creations in Glass currently offers several of these fine pieces: Rhapsody series available in the bowl and platter. The calabash vessels are available in “Autumn”, “Mirage”, and “Rainforest”. Also available are the “Rainforest” Folded lip vase and the tall flared vase.
